Helena Township Board Meeting August 12th, 2021
Meeting called to order at 7:00 PM. Members present were Butch Peeples, David Peterson, Bonnie Robbins, Butch Bartz and Cathy Rice absent.. Motion by Robbins to approve the agenda and supported by Bartz and approved. Motion by Robbins to approve the July’s meeting minutes and supported by Bartz and approved.

Public Comment: Resident on McPherson Road (Southern section unpaved) informed board of sediment in their yard after recent rains and the need for maintenance of the road and ditch .
Bartz to discuss with Burt Thompson; Antrim County Road manager.
Treasurer’s Report: beginning balance July 1st, 2021 is $643,889.96
Total receipts: $6165.06 and total disbursements: $43,535.20
Ending balance July 30th, 2021 is $600,950.07
Motion to approve the treasurer’s report by Robbins and supported by Bartz and approved.
Presentation of Bills: July 1-30: $30,855.13, August 1-12th; $11,521.40
Fire Chief/Sheriff Report: Paul Fabiano gave report for STLFD
Speakers: None
Communications: MTA grant to cover costs associated with COVID
Zoning: Logee’s report reviewed.
Planning Commission: No meeting
Parks & Rec: Motion by Robbins to approve the increase cost for township signs for road end public accesses and Alden Safe Harbor from $2000.00 to $3000.00 with second by Bartz and motion passed.
Roads: No report
Old Business: None
New Business: Letter of support for the Tribe for broadband; motion by Robbins with support by Bartz and motion carried.
Discussed signage for No Left Turn at entrance to Alden Safe Harbor driving North into Alden.
Recommendation for three 10 lb. ABC fire extinguishers at the Depot.
Robbins made the motion to approve the minutes from the township special meeting with second by Bartz and motion carried.
Township will not participate in Bailey appeal from recent ruling by judge.

Additional Public Comment: Alex Alspaugh commented on large tree limb down at cemetery not removed.
Jim Gurr commented.
Bartz made the motion to pay the bills and supported by Robbins and approved.
