Meeting called to order by Gurr at 7:05 p.m.
Opened with Pledge of Allegiance.
Roll Call: Present: Jim Gurr Bonnie Robbins

Absent: Mike Robinson Ken Renaud
Township officials present: Guy Molby
Approval of Agenda: As presented. Motion: Robbins, 2nd Westerman. Carried
Statement of Conflict of Interest: None
Approval of Minutes: As presented Motion: Westerman, 2nd Robbins. Carried
Public Comment: 1 in attendance, None
Communications: Training session in Traverse City on May 16 concerning short term rentals. Discussion to cancel
the regular meeting of the planning commission and attend this session. Motion: Robbins, 2nd
Westerman. Carried.
Additional discussion that a meeting may still be needed for a special use permit. Molby will
discuss this with the applicant and let Robbins know when the meeting date is finalized.
Tip of the Mitt survey was discussed and will be completed as a group at the end of the meeting.
New Business: ZA Report: 4 LU; 7 FC; 0 AC; 10 PC; 0 ZV
Old Business: Correct 4.04.01.I to read as follows:
Property owners with a permanent residence in Helena Township may use recreational
vehicles or trailers may be used for camping purposes on a temporary basis, provided such
trailer or recreational vehicle is maintained in a sanitary, moveable, and legally registered
condition. Such vehicles cannot be used as a rental.
A definition of property owner or property ownership may be added to the definition section.
Discussion will continue on this point of discussion.
Review of points already addressed. Robbins will update list for each meeting.
Additional point to consider is review of use by right in Agricultural and Commercial Districts.
