Helena Township Special Board Meeting
May 19, 2011
The meeting was called to order at 7:02 PM by Penny Wagner and pledge of allegiance was said. Present: Wagner, Peterson, Gurr, Teague and Rice. Three people in audience.

Discussion: This special meeting was called for the purpose of discussing and approving the Helena Township Library lease and the proposed Alden District Library. Discussion followed on the new language of the Helena Township lease. Wagner made the motion to approve the new lease language with support from Teague and the motion passed. Copy of the new lease to be sent to David Reck.
Discussion on the proposed Alden District Library Agreement, draft 3, 2010, followed. Rice made comments on the Helena Township Library’s position paper. Library states a district library would be advantageous to the Township because they would no longer have to keep the accounts. The Treasurer stated that it is her job and she is glad to do it – even agreeing to keeping a second account so they could write their own checks. Treasurer Rice clarified that the library has total control of their own money.
No library board members were in attendance to answer questions that the township board may have had with the Alden District Library Agreement draft and the proposal request to become a District Library was tabled.
Meeting adjourned at 7:37 PM.
