Helena Township Board Meeting November 11, 2021

Meeting called to order at 7:00 PM. Members present were Butch Peeples, David Peterson, Cathy Rice, Bonnie Robbins and Butch Bartz. David Peterson absent. Motion by Robbins to approve the agenda and supported by Bartz and approved.   Motion by Bartz to approve the October meeting minutes and supported by Robbins and approved.

Public Comment: None

Treasurer’s Report: beginning balance Oct 1st , 2021 is $ 516,629.92

                                     Total receipts: $ 73,306.65 and total disbursements: $ 25,235.87

                                     Ending balance as of 10/31/2021 is $ 564,700.70

Motion to approve the treasurer’s report by Robbins and supported by Bartz and approved. Presentation of Bills: Oct 1-31: $ 15,533.90, Nov 1-11; $ 7,957.94

Fire Chief/Sheriff Report: Reviewed report for STLFD

Speakers: None

Communications: Reviewed sheriff’s report.

Zoning: Logee’s report reviewed.

Planning Commission: meeting held and discussion on language for home business and home occupation.

Parks & Rec: Peeples reported that Elmer’s will submit bid on erosion control at ball park.

Roads: Bartz to meet with Burt Thompson to set priorities for spending road millage money. Alden Meadows Association to pay up to 10% not to exceed $6.000.00 towards chip & seal Alden Meadows Drive.

Old Business: Language for bid proposal for snowplowing to be completed by clerk and posted.

Reviewed proposal for epoxy restoration in interior entrance to the community center from Custom Coatings. Peterson suggested that the current vinyl tiles be tested for asbestos before committing to bid proposal.

New Business: Discussed problem with email spam on township computer. Rice made the motion to approve change in domain name for township supported by Bartz and motion carried.

Announcements: None

Additional Public Comment: Charlie MacDonald from GTLC reviewed plans to obtain DNR trust fund grant for purchase of Ferguson property adjacent to Coy Mountain Preserve for $50,000.00. Township match will be 26% or $13,000.00. Robbins made the motion to approve the 26% match for purchase of Ferguson property with DNR grant money and support by Bartz and motion carried.

Jim Gurr offered comments.

Robbins made the motion to pay the bills and supported by Bartz and approved.
