Helena Township Board Meeting

October 9th, 2014

 

Meeting was called to order at 7:00 PM with the Pledge of Allegiance by Supervisor Rick Teague.  Present:  Catherine Rice, David Peterson, Butch Bartz and Bonnie Robbins.  Motion to approve agenda by Robbins with support by Rice and motion carried.

Conflict of Interest: None

Public Comment: None

Approval of minutes: Motion by Robbins to approve the September’s meeting’s minutes with support by Rice and the motion carried.

Treasurer’s Report:  Township:  Beginning balance as of September 1st, 2014   $448,308.51

Motion to approve the Treasurer’s report by Bartz with support by Teague and motion carried.

Presentation of bills:  September 1-30, 2014 – $13,320.55 and October 1-9, 2014 – $7,111.69.                                

Speakers: None

Communications: The Alden District Library will purchase one air conditioning unit in the library at a cost of $3929.17 per their letter.  The September’s sheriff’s report was reviewed.

Committee Reports:

Zoning – Zoning Administrator Molby gave report for September.

Planning Commission – Robbins reported that there was discussion on proposed language for enforcement and fines for the township zoning ordinance and further review of the Helena Township’s Master Plan.  There may be a meeting in November to review the completeness of Walker Shores site plan application.

Ambulance Authority – No updates.

Parks and Recreation Committee – Peterson reported that Coy Mountain is being surveyed.

Roads:  Bartz reported that the Antrim County Road Commission is to update the PACER ratings of the county roads in Helena Township for future maintenance and improvement.

Announcements: None

Additional Public comment: Michele Zeeman, Franklin Street resident, had questions and concerns about the furture use of Franklin Street and the possible use of the adjacent property for improvements to the Alden Safe Harbor.

Paul Sak spoke about civil infractions and enforcement of the township’s zoning ordinances and encouraged the board to enforce the township’s zoning ordinances.

Motion to pay bills: Bartz made the motion to pay the bills with support by Robbins and motion carried.

Meeting was adjourned by call of the Chair at 8:03 PM.
