Five-Year Parks & Recreation Plan
The Helena Township Recreation and Natural Resource Plan for 2013-2017 (5 Year Plan) was adopted by the Helena Township Board on September 12, 2013. It was subsequently accepted by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources and is on file with that agency. To view the plan, click on the following link.
The Recreation and Natural Resource Plan is an important document that serves as a guide for the township to manage the township owned parks and trails with Helena Township. It is required by the department of Natural Resources in order to qualify for their grant programs. This plan was completed by the Helena Township Parks and Recreation Committee based on the results of a survey completed by the Helena Township community in October, 2011, and a public forum which was held in November of 2011. You can view the Survey and the Quantitative and Qualitative results on the following links.

Before our plan was finalized, we gave the public an opportunity to review it and make comments for a 30 day period beginning June 13, 2013. The comments we received and the action taken by the committee as a result can be reviewed in the Five Year Plan beginning on page 33.
The Helena Township Recreation and Natural Resource Plan will be in effect for 2013 through 2017. In 2016, the Parks and Recreation Committee will begin the process of constructing a new plan for the years 2018-2023.
