Helena Township Board November 8, 2018 Minutes
Meeting called to order at 7 pm. Members present were Rick Teague, Butch Bartz,
Bonnie Robbins, Catherine Rice and David Peterson.
Motion by Bartz to approve the agenda with addition and supported by Robbins and approved.
Public Comment: None
Motion to approve the minutes by Robbins with support by Bartz and approved.
Treasurer’s report; beginning balance Oct 1, 2018 is $349,875.73
Total receipts: $47,389.57 and total disbursements: $49,086.06
Ending balance as of 10/31/2018 is $348,179.24
Motion to approve the treasurer’s report by Teague with support by Robbins and approved.
Presentation of Bills: Oct.1-31: $38,185.13 and Nov. 1-8; $7,606.41
Speakers: None
Communications: Teague reviewed proposed logging truck legislation and the use of cemetery ordinances.
Zoning: Bob Logee submitted zoning report.
Planning Commission: Robbins reported that starting in December the Planning Commission meetings will start at 3:00 PM on the first Thursday of each month. The Planning Commission recommends that Whistling Frog Tile be issued a land use permit by right in a commercial district. Teague made the motion to approve the Planning Commission’s recommendation for Whistling Frog Tile’s land use permit with support by Robbins and the motion carried.
Ambulance Authority: No update.
Parks: No update
Roads: Bartz reported that the first mile of SE Torch Lake Drive starting at the Alden Highway intersection and the remainder of Helena Road maybe the next road maintenance projects for the township.
Old Business: None
New Business: Teague appointed Bob Clore, Brad McArtor, Steve Kerschner and alternate Thomas Hammerstein to the Board of Review

Teague made the motion to pay the bills with support by Robbins and the motion carried.
