Helena Township Board September 12, 2019 Minutes
Meeting called to order at 7 pm. Members present were Rick Teague, David Peterson, Butch Bartz, Bonnie Robbins, and Cathy Rice. Motion by Bartz to approve the agenda and supported by Robbins and approved. Motion by Robbins to approve the minutes and supported by Bartz and approved.
Public Comment: Paul Delange informed the board that the Historical Society wants to purchase a 50 fool long box car ($5300.00) to be included with the train at the Depot. The Historical Society will bear all of the costs. Historical Society to obtain bids for asphalt for the Depot parking lot.
Sheriff Dan Bean gave report for August and passed out copies of “From the Desk of Sheriff Dan Bean”.
Treasurer’s report; beginning balance August 1st, 2019 is $428,034.91
Total receipts: $18,052.71 and total disbursements: $27,480.18
Ending balance as of 08/31/2019 is $411,838.08
Motion to approve the treasurer’s report by Teague with support by Robbins and approved.
Presentation of Bills: August 1-31: $22,827.50 and September 1-12th; $4,929.96
Speakers: None.
Communications: Peterson informed the board that Harvest Energy Solutions for a solar array at the community center was received. Board to review proposal.
Zoning: Zoning report reviewed.
Planning Commission: No meeting.
Ambulance Authority: No update
Parks: Ruth Smith and Jim Gurr presented the September report from Parks and Recreation.
Roads: No update.
Old Business: None
New Business: Reviewed proposal from Arndt Electric Service, Inc. to replace all of the fluorescent lights in the community center with LED’s. Teague made the motion to accept the proposal from Arndt Electric Service, Inc. not to exceed $6680.00 with support by Bartz and the motion carried.

Additional Public Comment: Comments by Jim Gurr and Laura Westerman.
Teague made the motion to pay the bills with support by Robbins and approved.
