Draft Helena Township Board Meeting June 8th, 2023
Meeting called to order at 7:03 PM. Members present were David Peterson, Bonnie Robbins, Cathy Rice, Butch Peeples and Butch Bartz. Motion by Robbins to approve the agenda and supported by Rice and approved. Motion by Bartz to approve the May’s meeting minutes and supported by Robbins and approved.

Treasurer’s Report: beginning balance May 1st, 2023 is $791,426.48
Total receipts: $3,886.25 and total disbursements: $29,110.48
Ending balance May 31, 2023 is $766,202.25
Motion to approve the treasurer’s report by Robbins and supported by Bartz and approved.
Presentation of Bills: May 1-31; $18,669.21 and June 1-8; $5,918.57
Fire Chief/Sheriff Report: Paul Fabiano presented report. Sheriff’s report reviewed
Speakers: Torch Lake Fireworks
Communications: County commissioner Terry VanAlstine gave County commissioner report received by email and will be put on website
Zoning: Reviewed Bob Logee’s zoning report.
Planning Commission: Working on new 5 year master plan due December 31, 2023. Remove restriction on accessory structure footprint. Residence size will no longer restrict footprint of accessory buildings.
Parks & Rec: Steve Dell reported that there will be a rewrite of the two Spark Grants for the Tennis Court P ark and Ball Park and resubmitted before June 25th, 2023.
Roads: Road millage increase language did not meet deadline for August election and will be on November ballot.
Old Business: Seek bids for community center entrance hallway and update of bulletin boards.
New Business: None
Announcements: Budget meeting; June 21, 10:00 AM.

Motion to pay bills: Robbins made the motion to pay the bills and supported by Bartz and approved and motion carried.
