Helena Township Board Meeting – 04/13/2017
Meeting was called to order at 7:00 pm by Supervisor Rick Teague. Present: Rick Teague, Bonnie Robbins, David Peterson, Butch Bartz and Catherine Rice absent. Motion to approve agenda by Bartz; supported by Robbins and motion carried.
Approval of Minutes: Motion by Robbins, supported by Teague and motion carried.

Treasurer’s Report: Beginning balance as of March.1, 2017: $548,492.07
Receipts: $10,628.27
Disbursed: $28,389.46
Ending Balance $528,389.46 as of 03/31/2017
Motion to approve Treasurer’s report by Teague, supported by Robbins and motion carried.
Presentation of Bills: March 1-31st: $18,307.53 and April 13th; $7,594.55.
Speakers: Sue Reck/Friends of the Library commented on a possible new sign in front of the community center.
COMMITTEE REPORTS:
Zoning: Bob Logee gave report.
Planning Commission: Robbins reported the Planning Commission did not meet in March. The ZBA met and approved a variance request for the construction of a garage on Green Street.
Ambulance Authority: No update.
Parks & Rec: Ruth Smith reviewed list presented to the board. The board recommends that Jeanne Peeples be appointed to the P&R committee. The board does not support using a Facebook page for P&R. Teague made the motion to purchase 10 yards of ADA approved wood chips to complete filling in the playground equipment area at the Tennis Court park from Barker Creek not to exceed $500.00 with support by Robbins and the motion carried. The board agreed that the concession stand at the ballpark would not be demolished at this time. The board agreed not to purchase a dump trailer and harrow. The board agreed not to do any leveling of the grounds at the Depot park at this time.
Roads: No update.
Old Business: None
New Business: Peterson presented bid estimate for painting the community center from McMurray Painting for $15,975.00. Teague made the motion to accept the painting estimate with support by Peterson and the motion carried. Peterson presented bid estimate for crack filling, sealing and painting parking spaces of the community center parking lot from Great Lakes Striping and Sealing for $7,106.00. Teague made the motion
To accept the bid for $7,106.00 with support by Bartz and the motion carried.
