Helena Township Planning Commission

February 03, 2017

Gurr called meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

Opened with Pledge of Allegiance.

Statement of Conflict of Interest: None     

Approval of Minutes:       As presented. Motion: Renaud, 2nd Gurr. Carried

Public Comment:               3 present. Commission members welcomed Laura and Joe to their first official meeting.

Communications:             None.

New Business:

No Zoning Admin. Report presented. Logee reported on requests that are in the process of application. No official decisions or presentation for the commission yet. Molby and Logee are working with applicants and will inform commission if there are questions needing our input or review.

Discussion to review R1 zone change language as recorded. Robbins will look at notes on this and report back to the commission.

Discussion of permit for expansion of service in an existing business in the downtown village commercial. Service of alcohol by the glass was reviewed. Hours of operation and need for building envelope expansion was discussed. There will be no footprint change and service is not planned after 8 p.m.   Consensus on commission this use does not violate the zoning ordinance. Robbins and Gurr will present this finding to the Board of Trustees.

Discussion of permit for home occupation in the R1 district. Request to build cabinets in the owner’s garage. Owner does not plan to have a sign on this business site. Commission reviewed application as outlined in Section 5.03 of the ordinance. Finding of fact results in no violation of ordinance and is a permitted use. Applicant was directed to Molby for issuance of a Land Use Permit. Robbins and Gurr will present this finding to the Board of Trustees.
